2025 Summer League Constitution

Thursday 17th April

The League constitution for the 2025 Summer League season has been now been agreed by the Runcorn Darts League Committee and divisions for teams allocated accordingly.

From last seasons starting position of 54 teams, we lost Legacy Darts who folded midway throughout the season. Unfortunately we have lost a few more teams who have opted not to put a side in for the Summer League.

First is Beechwood Cavaliers who finished sixth in Section One, with the Roundside also folding after suffering a relegation from Section Two. Runcorn Sports, who finished third in Section Six and reached the Semi Final of the Town Championships, have also folded. That brings us to 50 teams, although we are delighted that five new teams are joining the league. This takes us up to 55 teams playing in the 2025 Summer League, again making us the largest league in the North West of England.

There is nothing in the league rules that specify how many teams are promoted and relegated from each division at the end of a season. However it is the view of the committee that where possible, we operate a "two up two down" policy, with any spaces in leagues being awarded with additional promotions as opposed to reprieves. This is favoured as it rewards success.

With having 55 teams, it made sense to have keep with six sections, so ten teams will be in Section One with nine teams and a No Match being in each of the other divisions.

Section One will see six teams remain from the Winter League, these being Bogey Flickers, Halfway Mixed, Total Confusion, Windy Hill Bullys, Village Peers and Bully Dogs. The Willies and The Con Artists have been promoted as Champions and Runners Up from Section Two, with The Lads and Northern Bar also promoted to the top section.

Section Two has Runcorn Linnets and Clarry B who have been relegated from Section One. Three teams from the Winter remain who are Has Beens, Clarry Tats and Doo Waps. Section Three Champions Lockdown Lizards and Runners Up Northern Starks are promoted, along with Halfway to the Fids and Norton Arms. A reminder that Section Two will now be best of 3 legs in all games from this coming season.

Section Three sees Nomads who have been relegated from Section Two. They are joined by current teams Wilsons Woodchuckers, Beechwood Bullets and Halfway Bar. Section Four Champions Beechwood Originals and Runners Up Wine Bar are promoted, as too are The A Team, Quarrymen and The Prospect.

Section Four is made up of High Voltage and Lockdown and 3 Smoking Barrels, both relegated from Section Three. Castle Double Tops and Blue Oyster Bar join them as existing teams, and they are joined by Section Five Champions Bully Swemps and Runners Up Only Fools and Muckas. Filling up that section is Linnets Chuckers, The Unusual Suspects and The Fat 20s.

Section Five sees just one relegated team due to Northern Flytes folding mid-season, this being Bang Tidies, and they are joined by existing Section Five teams Queen of Hearts Mixed and Golden Arrows. Section Six Champions The Legion Buccaneers and Runners Up Halfway There are promoted, with Buccaneers moving to the Red Admiral and becoming Admiral Buccaneers. Joining them in Section Five is The Mighty Cucks - who have now moved to the Lockdown and will share a board with Bogey Flickers, Castle Greyskull - who have now moved to the Royal and are now The Royal Rumble, Low Voltage - who return to the Welly as Welly R Soles, and Lockdown Lads.

Two teams are therefore relegated to Section Six, these being Northern Flytes and Kings and Queens of Hearts. The latter have returned to the Red Admiral and are once again Addy Chuckers. The Warmy Wobblers and Bottom House remain in Section Six and they are joined by five new teams:

Addy Devils - These will be playing from the Red Admiral
Lockdown Liabilities - These will be playing from the Lockdown and will share a board with Bully Dogs
Northern Flukes - These will be playing from the Northern Bar and will share a board with Northern Flytes
The Northerners - These will be playing from the Northern Bar, playing in the pool room
Tipsy Tossers & The Tory - These will be playing from the Windmill, playing in the lounge side

There is a Secretaries Meeting at Runcorn War Memorial Club on Wednesday 23rd April at 8.00pm where sheets will be handed out, with the season starting the following week. Fixtures for the Summer League season will be added to the website that same evening.
