The Prospect Win Executive Cup

Section Four's The Prospect are the 2024/25 Runcorn Darts Winter League Executive Competition Winners after coming from behind to beat Bully Dogs 5-4 in the Final, sponsored by Tony Ayres Decorating.

Leg One of the Cup Final saw Prospect's Ryan Keiley face Bully Dogs Dan Glynn. It was a close affair, with both players hitting a ton and an 85 each, with Ryan also having scores of 81 and 72. It was Dan who took the leg though with his first shot at a double, winning the leg in 25 darts.

It was soon 2-0 to Bully Dogs with Mike Ruane overpowering Ste Butler. Mike his scores of 95, 100, 78, 54 and 134 to leave tops after just 15 darts, eventually checking out in 20 darts.

Prospect got their first leg of the final with Dave Clarke beating Eric Peel. Dave hit two ton plus scores in this game, a 101 and 105, and solid scoring throughout saw him home.

Onto the doubles games, with leg four seeing Bully Dogs move into a 3-1 lead as Brian Spruce and Dan Glynn overcame Dave Clarke and Ste Mulholland. Dan hit a 100 with Brian hitting an 85, a 78 and a 60 finish, Prospect chasing throughout the leg.

Leg five saw the scores reduce once more with Prospect's Ryan Keiley and Ste Butler overcoming Marc Jones and Chris Phillips. Prospect were the more steady throughout the leg, with Ste hitting an 85 and 81 as well as the winning double.

The final doubles game brought the scores level at 3-3, with Adam Hooper and James Rogers beating Mike Ruane and Eric Peel. The difference in this game was the opening double, with Bully Dogs needing twelve darts to get off the mark. Adam hit the winning double by hitting tops.

Onto the final three singles games, and Prospect moved into the lead for the first time as Jake Garner beat Bully Dogs' Marc Jones. Both players threw well, with Marc hitting a 100 and 96, with Jake hitting a 140 and 95. Jake hit double 14 to win the leg.

Leg eight saw the scores level once more with Bully Dogs' Brian Spruce beating Adam Hooper. Adam threw consistently well with five scores of 60 or more, but Brian just had the upper hand with a 125, 87 and 85 helping him to a 22 dart leg.

The last leg was therefore a deciding leg, with Prospect's Jim Hooper facing Bully Dogs' Chris Phillips. Nerves were on display for both players with Jim top scoring with an 81. It was the ending that decided it though, Jim finishing 127 in six darts with a score of 75 and a 52 finish, making the final score 5-4 to The Prospect.
