End of Season Round Up

The 2024/25 Winter League concluded on Thursday evening with several of the six divisions going down to the last night to decide finishing positions.

Bogey Flickers are once again Section One Champions for the fifth time, losing just two of their 16 league games. They finished the season two points clear of both Halfway Mixed and Total Confusion, with Halfway finishing second by virtue of a better leg difference.

Section Two saw The Willies crowned Champions, winning their last five games of the season to pip The Con Artists, both of these teams only promoted into this section at the start of the season. Long time leaders of this section The Lads finished third after losing three of their last four league games.

In Section Three, Lockdown Lizards won the league at the first time, and with it should be promoted for the third season in succession after starting in Section Five in the 2023/24 Winter League. Three teams tied for second place, but its Northern Starks who finished as runners up by virtue of winning just two more legs over the season than Halfway to the Fids and Norton Arms.

Beechwood Originals are Champions of Section Four, winning 11 of their 14 league games. They took the title by four points from Wine Bar, who lost three of their last five games, but came from behind to beat The Prospect on the last day to secure runners up spot.

The closest section was Section Five and it was Bully Swemps who won the section after overcoming Linnets Chuckers in their last match. They won the league on leg difference from Only Fools & Muckas who won five of their last six games.

In Section Six, The Legion Buccaneers won all 16 of their league games to become worthy Champions. Halfway There were runners up with 13 wins this season, a total that would would have won them the league in most other sections.

Promotion and Relegation between the leagues is in operation at the end of each season. The exact makeup of each league is dependent on whether teams continue into the 2025 Summer League and will be announced after Wednesday 26th March when registrations close.

Teams are reminded that the league operates a two-up, two-down policy, with any additional spaces in higher leagues filled by promoting additional teams as opposed to offering reprieves.
