History was almost made in Week Six of the Geoff Jones Runcorn Darts League with a superb 9-dart leg attempt in Section One.
Phil Taylor of Clarry B started with seven perfect darts, two 180's followed by a 60, before hitting the wire on treble 19. He went on to win the leg in 16 darts. It proved a tense game against The Lads, for whom Lewis Chantler won in 19 darts. With the scores level at 4-4, Rob Fish again showed his cool with a last game win. Still top of the table and unbeaten are Bogey Flickers, who recorded a second successive 9-0 win, this time at Runcorn Linnets. See their stats below. Wanderers lost their unbeaten run as they went down 6-3 at home to Halfway Mixed, with Total Confusion up to third after beating Bully Dogs 6-3. Beechwood Cavaliers beat Northern Bar 5-4 in the other game, all their wins this season being that score.
In Section Two there are FOUR teams level on eight points at the top. Top on averages are Halfway Peers and Windy Hill Bullys with the same leg difference. Peers beat Doo Waps 7-2, with Bullys winning 6-3 at Nomads. Last weeks leaders The Roundside are now third after a second straight loss, 5-4 at The Royal for whom Morgan Clarke won a last leg decider. Clarry Tats are fourth after winning another last leg decider, Paul Lawson the man this week. Northern Starks beat Has Beens 5-4 in the other game.
There's no stopping the dominant Con Artists in Section Three, who recorded their third successive 8-1 win to win at High Voltage and maintain their unbeaten record. They are two points clear of The Willies who won 7-2 at Quarrymen. Norton Arms are third after a 5-4 win away at Castle Double Tops whilst Beechwood Bullets and Wilsons Woodchuckers both won their second game of the season, Bullets beating Northern R Souls 6-3 and Woodchuckers beating Bang Tidies 5-4.
Wine Bar are the new leaders in Section Four after a 5-4 win at Halfway Bar, that after previous leaders The A Team went down 8-1 at home to Lockdown Lizards who won their third successive game. Legacy Darts are third after a 5-4 win at Blue Oyster Bar, whilst Lockdown Legends bounced back to winning ways by beating Addy Chuckers 8-1. Its four successive losses now for Golden Arrows who went down 5-4 at Northern Flytes.
In Section Five, there was a top of the table clash between the teams with unbeaten records, and its Beechwood Originals who are now the outright leaders after a 6-3 win at Flight Attendants. Linnets Chuckers remain third, despite a 5-4 loss at Bottom House for whom that was a first win of the season. Its two wins on the trot now for The Unusual Suspects who won 7-2 at Queen of Hearts Mixed, whilst The Fat 20s ended a run of three losses with a 5-4 win over Low Voltage. The final game saw The Warmy Wobblers win at The Prospect, with every match for the Wobblers this season ending in a 6-3 result!
Looking at the stats and Phil Taylor was not the only multiple 180's hitter. Wayne Conway of Halfway Mixed hit maximums in both his singles and his doubles, whilst Neil Preece of Northern Bar in two in his doubles game, one in each leg. Other maximums came from Lewis Chantler of The Lads and Scott Greenwood of Legacy Darts in singles, plus Cam Potts of Halfway Peers and Anton Conroy of Bogey Flickers in doubles. Shout out also to Russ Fisher of Halfway Peers who hit a 171.
For quick games, its Bogey Flickers who take the plaudits this week with 17 darts legs from Ben Webster, Mike Warren and Brad Walker. There was also an 18 dart game from Dave Garner, whilst Anton Conroy and Ben Webster won their two doubles legs in 17 and 18 darts. Shout out also to Anton Conroy who hit two 20 dart legs.
Elsewhere the best on the night came from Mark Delooze of Halfway Mixed with a 15 dart leg, that including a 139 checkout. Ste Roberts of Wanderers hit a 16 dart game, with Jordan McDonald and Mark Tummon of Flight Attendants winning in 17 darts. Marc Jones of Bully Dogs and Mason McDermott of High Voltage both won in 18 darts, with Lewis Chantler of The Lads checking out in 19 darts.
For ton plus finishes, best was the 139 above from Mark Delooze with Jon Terretta of Norton Arms hitting a 118 finish. Dave Harrison of Total Confusion took out a 102, with James Murray of Runcorn Linnets taking out 100. There were also two 100 checkouts Fat 20s players Andy Foulkes and Neil Jones, both coming in their doubles games.
From a ton perspective, Chris Bazley of Beechwood Cavaliers was the best this week with 7 tons in his 6 legs, but Andy Barnes of Unusual Suspects hit three tons in his singles game, plus another in his doubles.
