Week Two Round Up

Reigning Section One Champions Bogey Flickers continued their great start to the 2024 Summer League with a 7-2 win over The Lads in Week 2 games. The early league table shows Total Confusion also with four points after a 6-3 win at Runcorn Linnets, whilst Wanderers make it three teams unbeaten after a 5-4 win at Bully Dogs. Beechwood Cavaliers picked up their first points in Section One after a 5-4 win over Clarry B, whilst Halfway Mixed are off the mark after winning 6-3 at Northern Bar.

Its Halfway Peers who lead the way in Section Two after their second successive 7-2 win, this time against The Royal. The Roundside and Has Beens are also unbeaten on four points after 5-4 away wins at Clarry Tats and Doo Waps respectively. Windy Hill Bullys claimed their first Section Two points after a 7-2 win at Halfway to the Fids, whilst Nomads are off the mark after a 6-3 win over Northern Starks.

There are four teams with 100% records in Section Three with The Con Artists leading the way. They recorded another 7-2 win at Beechwood Bullets. High Voltage and The Willies have identical records, and both had 6-3 home wins in week two against Wilsons Woodchuckers and Bang Tidies respectively. Castle Double Tops are also unbeaten, their second 5-4 win on the run coming at Quarrymen. Northern R Souls are off the mark with a 5-4 win over Norton Arms.

There is nothing to separate Halfway Bar and Wine Bar at the top of Section Four. Both have won two games with 12 legs won, the Halfy beating Northern Flytes 6-3 whilst Wine Bar beat Legacy Darts 5-4. Also unbeaten and a leg behind are The A Team, who won 6-3 against Blue Oyster Bar. Golden Arrows had a superb 6-3 away win at Addy Chuckers, whilst the Battle of the Lockdown was won by Lockdown Lizards who recorded their first Section Four win with a 5-4 win at Lockdown Legends.

In Section Five its the new clubs who are impressing, none more so than Flight Attendants who lead the way after their second 7-2 win, this time at The Prospect. Beechwood Originals are second as they also won 7-2 at The Unusual Suspects. Linnets Chuckers and The Fat 20s are also unbeaten, with both winning 6-3 against The Warmy Wobblers and Bottom House respectively. And Queen of Hearts Mixed are off the mark after a superb 8-1 win over Low Voltage.

There were five 180's thrown in the league in week two. Three came in the game between Bully Dogs and Wanderers with Ros Hemmings hitting one in her doubles. The other two came in the same doubles game with Marc Jones and opponent Josh Bury both hitting the max. The other two came at Runcorn Linnets where Joe McGeever and James Murray both hit maximums.

There were a couple of big finishes about with Ste Gerrard (Nomads) taking out a 110 finish in his doubles game whilst Ste Woodward (Windy Hill Bullys) had a 107 finish.

Quickest games of this week came in 15 darts from Paul Carr (Bogey Flickers) and Phil Taylor (Clarry B), with Phil also having a 19 dart game in his second leg. Paul's Flickers teammate Ben Webster hit a 16 dart game, Mike Smith (Halfway to the Fids) had a 17 dart game as did the pairing of Mark Jones and Chris Phillips (Bully Dogs).

Three people had 19 darts games, these being Josh Bury (Wanderers), James Murray (Runcorn Linnets) and John Moore (Queen of Hearts Mixed).

Looking at tons, and the game of the night was the singles game between Tony Roach of Northern Bar and Chris Clarke of Halfway Mixed. The three leg game produced 14 scores of a ton or more, both hitting seven. Chris also hit three tons in his doubles with Tony adding another two.

Dave Foulkes (Beechwood Cavaliers) hit eight tons in his five legs, with Jordan Davies and Ros Davies (Bully Dogs) both hitting seven tons. Glyn Mason of Halfway Peers hit four tons in his singles and doubles games, whilst Geoff Lowe (Northern Starks) hit three tons in his singles.
